Religious life today, visions for the future
Panel of women religious discuss their perspectives in honor of Catholic Sisters Week 2024
At a celebration breakfast on March 14, in honor of Catholic Sisters Week 2024, sisters Clare Bass, CSJ, Katty Huanuco, CCVI, Monique Tarabeh, RGS, and Nhan Nguyen, ACI, spoke about how God’s love and influence are alive in the global collective that is modern religious life.
They talked deeply and passionately about their call to spread the Christ’s love through social justice leadership, how they find strength in the gospel, and their outlook for congregations to come together to solve monumental problems.
Around the world, women religious provide evidence that the seemingly impossible can be achieved. They – you – are the joyful proof that redistribution of wealth, repairing and caring for our common home, communal living, universal sisterhood, and unconditional love are within reach and welcoming of those called to a similar sense of global citizenship and belonging.
Wow! What words to lead with and leave the group with. The sense of fellowship, community, connection, and joy were palpable in the room. Women religious have long been the bedrock of Catholic social ministry and the same can be said for the years ahead of us. Thank you for being women of character, caring, and Christ that we may all look to for leadership today – and tomorrow.
